Toilet make-over!

Any of you who've visited us at Plotgate will have formed a definite impression of our functional but rather scrappy toilet & after deciding to do something about it we have the fabulous, handy, Bunk to thank for giving us a toilet make-over! We now not only have a door that closes properly & a toilet seat but also a window & undercover handwashing area, even guttering!! Bunk you are the toilet queen!!

Scratching, grunting & suckling - what more could we ask for?!

Pigs, pigs, pigs - they're at Plotgate at last!

We're getting seriously excited about our June work weekend (14th & 15th June), the weather is hotting up, our menagerie is settling in & there's talk of a fair...a Green Scythe Fair to be exact!

Paddington Farm Field Trip May 2014

We're trying to meet other local food producers & community movers & shakers in order to connect with the local food movement in Somerset so six of us recently went on a field trip to meet Tanya, Michael & the gang at Paddington Farm Trust in Glastonbury.

Cows Arrive!!

Two Dexters arrived at plotgate on longterm loan from Tinkers Bubble this week to help us establish a successful rotational grazing system alongside our sheep & the geese,

A Work Weekend to be thankful for.

A big thanks to everyone who came to our work weekend this month & joined us in our epic AGM while the rain hammered down on the barn roof & we hunkered down amid the straw bales.

The first part of our greenhouse is now up & filled with gorgeous plants bursting with life & getting ready to go into the ground on The Common Land.

Work Weekend May 10th & 11th 2014
Another work weekend is looming on the horizon & as ever; Plotgate Needs You!

If you can join us on the 10th & 11th of May you can get stuck in with us; building the greenhouse, digging swails in the willow garden, weeding / planting / hoeing / tilthing / compost scattering in the grain garden, fencing, sheep doctoring, talking, laughing, eating, cooking & enjoying the great outdoors together

Broadcasting! Herbs!

We were broad sowing a mixture of herbs at Plotgate this weekend, on the edges of fields & any bare patch of ground we came across, which made me think incessantly of the Permaculture principle 'Value the Edge' & the beautiful book 'Letting in the Wild Edges' by Glennie Kindred & inspired a great conversation about hedgerow conservation with Dan.
